Frequently Asked Questions

Is my data really private?
Yes, 100%. ThinkScribe processes everything locally on your device using Apple's Neural Engine. No audio or text is ever sent to any server. We don't even have a backend to receive data — there's literally nowhere for it to go.
What's the difference between Free and Pro?
Start with a 3-day free trial that gives you full Pro access — all features, no limits. After that, choose weekly ($4.99/wk), monthly ($7.99/mo), or annual ($59.90/year). One subscription works on all your Apple devices.
How does the Voice Keyboard work?
ThinkScribe installs a custom keyboard on iOS and runs a global dictation engine on macOS. You get offline push-to-talk voice typing in any app, adjustable haptic intensity for every key press (4 levels), a spacebar cursor trackpad, AI text rewrite, and automatic punctuation — all processing stays on your device.
Can I use the AI Chat without transcribing anything?
Absolutely. ThinkScribe doubles as a standalone, offline AI assistant (like ChatGPT, but entirely on-device). You can ask it general knowledge questions or use it to brainstorm anytime.
What AI features are included?
Six one-tap actions: Summarize, Clean Transcript, Action Items, Meeting Minutes, Executive Brief, and Mind Map. Plus a full AI chat where you can ask questions about your transcript — with grounded citations linking every answer to its source. You also get 10 Professional Rewrite Styles powered by our dual Apple Intelligence and ThinkScribe AI engine.
Does ThinkScribe work offline?
After the initial model download during setup, ThinkScribe works completely offline. You can transcribe, summarize, and export without any internet connection.
What languages are supported?
ThinkScribe uses multiple on-device speech engines supporting 100+ languages with automatic language detection. The app interface is available in 12 languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Chinese, and more.
Can I record system audio from Zoom, Teams, etc.?
Yes! On Mac, ThinkScribe uses CoreAudio process taps to capture application-specific audio. You can record system audio, microphone audio, or both simultaneously with echo cancellation — perfect for capturing both sides of a meeting.
What export formats are available?
Seven formats: TXT, SRT subtitles, VTT subtitles, JSON, Markdown, PDF, and DOCX. You can also share summaries directly to Apple Notes.
Does one subscription work on all devices?
Yes! ThinkScribe uses universal product IDs — subscribe once and your Pro access works on Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch automatically through your Apple ID.
What can I do on Apple Watch?
Apple Watch works as a companion recorder — start recording on your wrist and the audio is sent to your iPhone for transcription. Great for quick voice memos and meetings when your phone is in your pocket.
Can I use ThinkScribe on an Intel Mac?
Unfortunately, no. ThinkScribe requires Apple Silicon (M1 or later) for the on-device machine learning capabilities. Intel Macs do not have the Neural Engine required for real-time transcription.
How do I report a bug?
Please email support@thinkscribe.ai with a description of the issue, your OS version, and device model. Screenshots or screen recordings are very helpful.
Can I import audio from other apps?
Yes! On iPhone and iPad, you can share audio files from Voice Memos, WhatsApp, Telegram, Files, or any app — just tap the share button and choose ThinkScribe. It supports MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC, OGG, and more. This is ideal for long recordings like lectures, where recording in Voice Memos gives you better battery life.
