Is ThinkScribe a hearing aid or a medical device?
No. ThinkScribe is an accessibility tool that turns recorded speech into text on your own device. It is not a hearing aid, it is not a medical device, and it is not a substitute for either. It does not amplify sound or process what you hear.
Does it caption a conversation live, as it happens?
ThinkScribe is built around recording a conversation and reading the transcript back, usually within moments of stopping. It is not a real-time captioning service for phone calls or for video calls with other people.
Can it caption videos I want to watch?
Yes, for video files you have on the device. Import the file and ThinkScribe produces the transcript plus SRT or VTT subtitles you can load into your player. It does not caption live broadcasts or streaming services.
Which languages does it support?
Over 90 languages for transcription. It writes down speech in the language it was spoken; it does not translate between languages.
Is my recording sent anywhere?
No. Transcription, speaker separation and summaries all run on your device. Sync between your own Apple devices through iCloud is available, and it is off unless you turn it on.
